Hello my name is Aja Wooldridge, and I am working towards my Girl Scouts Silver Award, one of the highest awards. To receive this, I chose a subject that I feel strongly about in my community. The subject I chose is children reading.
Reading at a young age promotes stronger language skills and continuing the cycle leads to a higher chance of graduating High School. An opposite study shows that if a child does not read from a young age it leads to less development in the brain. Less development in the brain has been shown to lead to an adult more prone to criminal activity.
Because of some studies and statistics, these are some reasons that led me to partner with Gwinnett County Public Schools Book Mobile because they provide free books to children between ages 4 to 15 promoting reading at a young age.
